
INGREDIENTS:
1 pkg dry granular yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 3/4 cup scalded water
2 tbsp shortening
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp salt
6 1/2 cup flour
STEP BY STEP:
Dissolve yeast in warm water
Pour rest of liquid over shortening, sugar, and salt
Cool to lukewarm. Add dissolved yeast and half the flour, and beat well
Add remaining flour gradually. Toss onto a floured board and knead until smooth and elastic
Put dough into greased bowl, cover, and let rise, about 1 hour
Bake at 400 degrees F for 20-25 minutes
TIPS:
For scalded water can be substituted with the same amount of potato water, or milk.
