INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cup skim milk
1/8 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup bread crumbs, soft
1/4 tsp salt
3 tbsp butter or margarine
1 tbsp butter or margarine, melted
1 cup macaroni
1 cup monterey jack cheese, shredded
1 cup tuna in water, drained
1 cup tart apples, peeled cored, and diced
white pepper, to taste
STEP BY STEP:
Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain. In a saucepan,
melt 3 tablespoons butter or margarine over low heat. Blend in flour and
salt
Add milk all at once. Cook quickly, stirring constantly, until mixture
thickens and bubbles. Add cheese; stir until cheese is melted
Stir in tuna, diced apples and drained macaroni; turn into a baking dish
Combine 1 tablespoon melted butter and crumbs. Sprinkle on top of
casserole. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes, or until apples are
tender.
